This ‘one shot’ of Harry Seidler’s MLC Centre (1972) was captured one winter morning from the balcony of my apartment in Darlinghurst, 1.25km from the building.
It was a fleeting moment as the sun broke through the clearing fog that had me running inside to dig out my telephoto lens.
For me it is a defining moment because while the shot is all about the building, it would be nothing without the quality of light. I’m a firm believer that light can make the difference between ordinary and extraordinary in the photography of the built environment.
