GONE FISHING - JAYNE MACDONALD

“A pit stop to Monterey, a small fishing town along California’s Pacific Coast Highway. A busy pier behind me saw thousands of Sardines being sorted and local men fishing and smoking cigarettes along the pier. At the very end of the pier, I spotted a fisherman sitting at the edge next to a sign reading no-fishing beyond this point. To me, this image encapsulates the dual aspects of ‘Seeing & Knowing’ juxtaposing human perception and regulation. The vast ocean and sky in the background suggest endless possibilities and exploration. This scene highlights the balance between adhering to rules and trusting personal judgment, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of balancing societal rules with personal understanding and intuition.”
